Our database contains four types of records:

Verified

A business record is coded ‘verified’ when we have been able to contact the business to confirm its existence and complete the record with all the elements we deem necessary for it to be useful, such as contact names, telephone number, address, primary line of business, size and website. Our database is continually updated with the most current information available.

Pre-Verified

A business record is coded ‘pre-verified’ when we have detected that a business may exist, but have been unable to contact the business to validate the information we have and complete the record with all the elements we require to qualify it as a ‘verified’. For example, the record may lack a phone number or we may only have a website for the business. We continue to aggressively seek information so that we can qualify the record as ‘verified’.

Suspect

A business record is coded ‘suspect’ when certain indicators imply that the business may be out of business. Such indicators can include disconnected phone lines, utility disconnects, closed websites and change of address requests to the post office that do not provide a forwarding address. When a record is coded ‘suspect’ our researchers continually try to contact the business for a period of time to confirm the status of the business.

Out of Business

A business record is coded ‘out of business’ when our researches have confirmed that the business is out of business. This confirmation most often takes place via telephone calls or through websites and social media updates.
