Credit.net’s parent company, Infogroup, is a marketing services and analytics provider that delivers best in class data-driven customer-centric technology solutions. How does Credit.net compile its data?

Credit.net compiles its business data in-house from a wide variety of sources, such as:

  • New business filings
  • Daily utility connections
  • Press releases
  • Corporate websites
  • Annual reports
  • User-generated feedback
  • Secretaries of State and other governing bodies of the various states
But we don’t stop there. To ensure your data is accurate, up-to-date, and complete, we make over 24 million calls each year.

How accurate is your data?

Credit.net goes above and beyond the industry standard to ensure the data you access is as accurate and complete as possible. In fact, we invest over $20 million annually and employ over 350 full-time researchers to compile and verify the information in our databases.

It’s this attention to detail that delivers consistently higher levels of accuracy and deliverability over the competition. In fact, our most recent competitive audit conducted by the University of Nebraska–Omaha found an accuracy level of 96.1% for company name, address, and phone number.

But we also recognize that no database can be perfect. Businesses are constantly closing, executives moving, and credit status changing.

How do you assign business credit scores?

Credit.net has developed a sophisticated model to assign credit scores to most of the 24 million businesses in our database. Our model considers information such as number of employees, years in database, industry stability and barriers to entry, census data, payment data, and other critical factors to arrive at credit scores that are practical, statistically sound indicators of probability to pay.

How can I use business credit reports in my business?

The uses for the data we compile are virtually limitless. For example, you can use this information to:

  • Help make efficient decisions on extending lines of credit
  • Locate data on businesses in the U.S. and Canada including small and privately-owned businesses
  • Verify the existence of a business
  • Identify headquarter locations and lines of business
  • Search for businesses by location, type of business, ownership and more
  • Stay up-to-date on news about your clients and prospects

The list goes on and on! Credit.net is your single best tool for business credit and research needs.

What are the limitations of credit ratings?

Assigning Business Credit Scores to businesses is not an exact science. Even though we use the most sophisticated models and algorithms to predict the credit worthiness of a business, it is still not a fool-proof process.
